Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many dancers are selected at tryouts?

The team will consits of a maximum number of 20 dancers. The size of the team will depend on talent and competition preferences. No one has a guaranteed spot on the team besides the captains. 

2. Where do we perform at?

We perform sidelines at all home football and men's basketball games. We also perform full halftime routines at basketball games. We try to perform at as many community outreach programs, such as the Bobcathon, as possible. We compete at a collegiate national dance team competition. 

3. What is our practice schedule?

We practice about four times a week at 6:00 - 7:30 AM. Practices are subject to change depending on what events are happening in the future. The season will last from July 2021 until April 2022. 

4. What is the cost of being on the team?

Everyone pays for their own gear they get to keep (i.e. tennis shoes, dance shoes, jacket). We fundraise for compeition and uniforms. All compeition fees not fundraised for are paid by the dancers themselves. Estimated total competition cost is $500*.

5. What skills are required to make the team?

Technique including at least a clean double pirouette, at least four a la secondes into a double pirouette, right and left leaps, center leap (on the right side), calypso (on the right side), turning disk (on the right side) and high kicks will be required. In tryouts, you will have to demonstrate your a la seconde turns, pirouettes, kicks and leaps in the tryout combos. 

6. Are men allowed to tryout for the team?

Yes! Anyone with past dance experience can tryout for the dance team!
